SIX HOUR AT WINTON - OCTOBER 2009 A suggestion was put forward by Malcolm Ebel, the founder of Team AIM to get a team together for the Victorian 6 hour in support of their event, in consideration of the fact that they always support the South Australian event. We were able to get five drivers consisting of Malcolm Ebel, Andrew Ebel, Julie Crafter, Sam Schmidt and Andrew Scadding to run their Alfetta GTV’s and, of course, Malcolm’s GT with Grant Pigot eager to continue being Team Manager. Due to Grant’s work commitments, this was unable to eventuate and we were fortunate enough that long time Scuderia Alfa member, Jim Strattman, who had volunteered to assist us, happily accepted the challenge of managing our team in Grant’s absence. So with the enlistment of Chris Schmidt, Gerald Marsson, Lucy Crafter and Marlene Scadding as helpers, our team was set for the challenge! |

THE NEED FOR SPEED
As the D.A.G. (Driver Assist Girl) of No. 152 I headed along to the Fathers Day Come and Try day with no desire to do the come and try sessions, however, as the morning progressed, I finally agreed that this would be the best opportunity for me to at least get a feel for the car and track without any pressure by participating in the parade laps in Andrew’s car. After a little practice drive around the sheds, I took a deep breath and headed trackside to catch up to the course car for a few laps. To my surprise, the clutch and gearbox were user friendly even for me. Andrew convinced me to come for a ride on the hot laps as passenger and I found this very exhilarating although none of the pedals on my side of the car worked when I wanted them to. As you can see, I like to be in control but here I was out of my comfort zone. So, although I had a good time, I realised that this was definitely not for me. Sorry guys, I will leave you to play on your own and be content to help out. Marlene Scadding (Woose) |
