FOR ALFAS RUNNING TRACKSIDE

By Competition Secretary

Welcome to the October Trackside report.  The last event was held on Fathers Day, Sunday 6th September at Mallala.  The day was programmed as a Come and Try family fun day and I think a great time was had by all.  It proved to be very busy and you had to be on your toes to keep up with what session was happening at any one time. There was something for everyone from parade laps for Mum, Dad and the family, novice tuition, novice come and try, media rides i.e. passengers at fast speed with experienced sprinters and sprinting practice where sprinters got to experiment, swap cars with each other and some advice from other drivers.  It didn’t run exactly as the supplementary regulations stated, however, there were extra sessions and a little more variety which really did provide something for everyone.  I cannot stress strongly enough my appreciation to the committee of the MSCA and the senior officials who give up time on their Fathers Day to provide this great day for us.

In particular, I would like to thank Peter and Margaret Hall, Adrian Flynn, Sue Stephenson,Barry Kitts, all the people who did various other official duties and flagging throughout the day.

There were 94 entrants with the majority being novice sprinters plus many, many more who enjoyed the parade laps several times during the day.

I hope some of the members who participated can write an article for the magazine about their experience on the day.

Next event on the calendar is the final round for 2009, being Round 4, Sunday 25th October.  It will be a tight turnaround for Team AIM members who will have been to Winton, Victoria for the 6 hour relay the weekend before.
