FOR ALFAS RUNNING TRACKSIDE By Competition Secretary Welcome to the May report. After a long break from the sprinting season, round 1 on the 28th March, 2010 finally arrived but much to everyone’s dismay, the weather gods rained on our parade all day. This resulted in a lot of open wheeled cars not wanting to play and interesting times testing everyone’s set up for the day. Consequently times were well down and the results are as follows: Results for Round 1 – 28.3.10
Type 1 James Wiltshire 1:47.34 Jim Delaine 2:08.31
Type 2a U2L Andrew Ebel 1:47.26 Frederick Welsh 1:48.06 Neil Heywood 1:52.97 Rick Miklic 1:57.32
Type 2B U2L Andrew Coles 1:36.97 Mike Coles 1:39.89 Sam Schmidt 1:39.95 Michael Katsikitis 1:41.04 Laurie Ardill 1:46.53 Ian Patrick 1:49.16
Type 3 U2L Andrew Scadding 1:38.37 Geoff Heaven 1:41.07 Malcolm Ebel 1:46.53 Joe Cardone 1:47.23 John Phelps 1:48.92
Type 3 U3L Al Harris 2:45.00 Non Alfa Over 2L Peter Canala 1:39.69 Brenton Clift 1:41.92 Andrew Poulson 1:44.45 Robert Clift 1:50.60
Good to see some new faces, young James Wiltshire performed admirably considering it was only his second time on the track and a big welcome back to Michael Katsikitis in his pristine Sud TI which he has been developing for the last three years. Our next event is the 6 hour relay on Sunday 23rd May, by the time you read this report you should have your teams sorted and entries posted, if not, please get a riggle on. It is a wonderful event and you don’t have to drive fast to win, it is more strategy and team effort that will get you across the line, along with a little bit of lady luck. Don’t forget your entrant declarations after reading the complete set of tables in the April magazine. Upcoming events for the month of May are as follows: 16th May ALFAS IN CLOVER AT SEMAPHORE 16th May Motorkana at Big W Monarto 16th May Hill Climb Winter Cup Rnd 1 at Collingrove 23rd May 6 hour relay at Mallala 29-30th May Shannons Nationals at Mallala That’s all for now. See your backside trackside. ANDREW SCADDING
