Welcome to the July Trackside report. By the time you read this article we will have attended our dinner at Kooyonga Golf Club and to all those worthy recipients of trophies, congratulations to you all. It is nice to be recognised for your efforts and achievements. I think Marlene’s article covered the six hour. I would just like to say what a great time we have competing in this event each year and would highly recommend it to any other competition enthusiasts, whether they be drivers or someone who wants to be part of a team infrastructure. It really is a team effort and it takes a year or two to understand the complexities of the event so don’t expect to win on your first try. You might, but I don’t think you will. Anyway, give it a red hot go. Round 2 is coming up on Sunday 4th July. We may even see some first time competitors from the Alfa club, which will help boost our presence even more. God I love to see all those Alfettas! As mentioned last month, we will be having a Skills Enhancement Day/Come and Try on Sunday 8th August. Same price as Fathers Day last year, i.e. $70 to all participants. A $25 come and try licence fee will be paid by the MSCA as part of that entry fee. Still finalising format for the day but it will include in car tuition for those participating in the come and try before they actually go out by themselves to do the come and try laps. There will be an opportunity for parade laps where you can have as many in the car as there are seatbelts travelling behind a safety car. There will also be some sprint sessions where experienced sprinters can go full bore and ride with other experienced sprinters for tuition or vehicle evaluation. All vehicles entered in the event i.e. paid $70, will have to be scrutineered before the event. Anyone just wishing to do parade laps, does not need to be scrutineered. Ensure that your vehicles are all in good roadworthy order and have anything loose removed from within the car or boot before scrutineering. The most common fault is unsecured batteries, please make sure your battery is securely mounted and check your tyres. All clubs are required to provide flag marshalls for this event, so if you are able to help us out, please let me know. We require as many experienced sprinters as possible to enter and act as instructors for the day. Upcoming events for July include: 4th July MSCA Sprint – Round 2 Mallala 11th July G1 Drift Competition – Mallala 11th July Multi Club Hill Climb – Collingrove 18th July Superkart Race Meeting and Modern Regularity – Mallala 25th July Hill Climb Winter Cup Round 2- Collingrove
